USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) 3D Model

The model provided is 100mm long. I found it very challenging to print as a single piece because it's very long and spindly. I printed it at 100mm nose down so that the nacelles were built growing upwards. This worked but had the problem of putting support structures towards the front of the model. The small one is in the image in front of my whiteboard. I was able to print it at 175mm by angling it 45 degrees nose upwards along the diagonal of the Afinia's roughly cubical print volume. This requires the rafts for the ends of the nacelles to be firmly attached so the nacelle bodies can grow at 45 degrees. Once they meet the struts, which grow out more sharply than 45 degrees, they are quite stable. The larger one I'm holding like Apollo in "Who Mourns for Adonis?"
