Pete’s, a vintage gas station in Williams, Arizona, a town of just 3,000 or so residents but a well-known place among visitors from around the world. Known as “The Gateway to the Grand Canyon” 60 miles to the north, it is the southern terminus of the scenic railroad that takes tourists there and (in 1984) was also the last town on old Route 66 to be bypassed by Interstate 40 across five southwest states.
